May Arts Design Team challenge

The May Arts Design Team is taking a challenge. The Ribbon Lady had a vote over on the May Arts Pinterest page. It was fun to see some other inspiring projects. I am also so happy to be getting in the Spring mood.

Take a look at our inspiration piece. What a pretty floral canvas! Garden-Canvas-MA

I took a look at this and had to really think. I don’t usually use lots of floral in my crafting so I looked at this in a different way. I loved the pink and the fence. I pulled from that and dug through things I already had on had in my studio. I had this perfect little fence tray that I found for just $1! I then dug through all my ribbons in pink hues and ran with an idea. This is what I came up with.

Right now I have a candle in it, but this tray is perfect to hold napkins or Easter eggs would be fun as well. Let’s make it together!

Here’s what you’ll need:

May Arts materials:

1″ Green Adhesive Flag Ribbon

1″ Pink Adhesive Flag Ribbon

Other:

White spray paint

Mini fence tray

Hot glue gun

Large gemstones

Felt

candle or other item to go in the center.

First you want to start by painting your fence tray with two coats of white. Let it dry in between coats about 30 minutes.

Next using the Green flag ribbon adhere around all the sides of the fence. Love that there is no glue to be used. The adhesive line is awesome.

Now you have grass! Time to create the flowers. Using a 1″ circle of felt and the pink flag ribbon around the circle folding each on just a tiny bit to curve it around. Hot glue gems in the centers for some sparkle.

I used six total flowers on my fence project. I love how it turned out and now I’m totally ready for some Spring weather. It’s still been snowing HERE!! I can’t wait to make a couple more of these in two other colors and display them around my house after the St. Patrick’s Day and Easter decorations come down. Here is one last look at this finished project.
